Local Providers

There are two main type of Broadband offerings currently available.

Fixed Line Services (DSL):
For this type of service you will require a phone line. To check if you phone line is DSL capable you should visit the www.eircom.net and go to their broadband page. From there you will be able to enter your phone number to check if your line is able to receive DSL broadband. (This depends on whether your local exchange is DSL enabled and on the quality of your phone line).

If your line is capable of receiving DSL then you have a choice of providers who offer a variety of broadband packages and bundles. To find out what best suits your needs you should visit www.callcosts.ie

Wireless Services:
Wireless services do not require a phone line in your house but will require the installation of a wireless antenna. (This is often similar to a chorus aerial). Wireless works by direct line of sight between you aerial and a base station (usually situated on a mountain). There are a number of wireless operators in Kerry but the areas covered tend to be the flat areas of the county where line of sight is more easily established. If you contact the wireless operators they should be able to tell you whether you lie within their coverage area.
